Yesterday, Ducati fans worldwide tuned in to a race run in the night and were treated to a day like no other. It had been a long time in the making. In the process pride was swallowed, friendships and careers destroyed, help was sought from unlikely places and the total team structure was turned upside down. But the light at the end of the tunnel turned out to be the 3600 bulbs that light the Losail Circuit, where every night since Thursday the Ducati team took to the track on the all new GP15 and looked more and more likely in possession of what could legitimately be described as a track weapon. Frankly it seemed too good too soon.

It has been a very tough year for Cal Crutchlow. Coming off the high of 2013, the year in which he scored four podiums, finished fifth in the championship, and looked certain to score his first win in MotoGP, his season in Ducati has been a massive challenge. Technical malfunctions, crashes, and a battle to find a way around the chronic understeer which plagues the Desmosedici. Crutchlow lingers in the middle of the pack, not fighting at the sharp end. This was not the season which Crutchlow had envisaged when he signed for Ducati.

Factory Ducati riders Cal Crutchlow and Andrea Dovizioso are predicting a tough MotoGP event at Catalunya this weekend.
Dovizioso finished seventh for the team in Barcelona year, but was over 30 seconds from victory, and describes the bike as 'a little better' than last year.
“I hope to do well at Montmelò with my Desmosedici GP14: it's a very strange track, with lots of fast corners and one long straight,” said Dovizioso. “Last year was quite bad, with ninth on the grid and seventh in the race, but it is one of my favourite tracks. The bike is a little bit better than last year, and we have to try and get the maximum as always.”

Cal Crutchlow qualified a season best sixth for Ducati’s home Italian MotoGP at Mugello, aided by the debut of a revised engine.
Pramac's Andrea Iannone set a new MotoGP top speed record on Saturday morning, with Crutchlow and team-mate Andrea Dovizioso also impressed with the upgrade.
"We ran the new engine today. It's a rocket! No doubt about that,” said Crutchlow. “We're pleased to be able to take some advantage because we struggle in other areas. So to have a little bit of power to get out of trouble is good.
“The performance of the engine was supposed to make the bike a bit smoother but it doesn't seem to have done that. It seems to be very similar in that area, but in fifth and sixth gear it is going really well.
