Good day despite the crash on the last lap of the Q2, Andrea Iannone was facing an outstanding lap that would have earned him at least the first row, but the crash in turn 15 did not allow him to finish the last lap available. The Pramac Racing Team had to settle for starting from tenth position on the grid for tomorrow's race.or the rest click HERE

Andrea Dovizioso on his weekend so far - he ended the day 3rd (2’03.011)
“I am pleased with the time that I set and also with my pace on the medium tyre. For sure we have to improve even more because it’s difficult to obtain a good set-up due to the the track surface, which is very bumpy. However we have been constantly quick since the start of the morning session and this means that we have started the weekend well. My third place is of course a good result, but I think I could have done even better with the soft tyre, which in my opinion is potentially better than the medium one I used to set my time.”

Over 1000 fans shared the excitement of last weekend’s MotoGP from the exclusive Ducati Grandstand at Silverstone circuit. For 2014, due to public demand Ducati UK will more than double the number of seats available from 1055 to 2310. The Luffield B Ducati Grandstand was the place to be as Ducati fans found themselves in prime position to see the best of the action at Silverstone. The covered Luffield B Grandstand provided spectators with a view of the bikes thundering down the Wellington Straight into the braking zone for Brooklands Corner before negotiating Luffield. The Luffield complex gave the spectators not only a fantastic view of all the significant action of the race but also produced an amazing atmosphere. - See more at: http://superbike-news.co.uk/wordpress/index.php/Motorcycle-News/ducati-grandstand-silverstone-motogp-double-size-2014#sthash.44OkSLdB.dpuf

Carlos Checa: “The two races were quite similar. When it started to rain in race one I found it hard to immediately understand the limits; I slowed too much in that moment and then, once I’d got back into my rhythm, I’d lost too much time and was unable to reach those ahead of me. In the dry I was just about able to stick with the others this wasn't possible in the wet. In the second race it didn’t rain heavily until the later stages. There were points in which my bike ran quite smoothly and others in which I could feel the lack of power. But in those mixed conditions I made an evaluation and decided that there was no point taking risks for the little that I could have gained. Speaking in general about the whole weekend, the positive thing is that we have found a good setting in the dry, working well as far as the chassis and suspension is concerned and so I’m pleased from that point of view.”
Ayrton Badovini: “Today’s conditions were strange. I’m fairly happy because I wasn’t particularly fast during the weekend’s dry sessions but feel that I’ve taken a step forward today. In race 1 I made a good recovery but if the rain had arrived earlier I think I could have done even better. Race 2 was more complicated, I was a little bit hemmed in at the start and while there were drops of rain throughout the entire race it only came down heavy at the end. I think I made two solid top ten finishes considering the conditions and hope that at Nurburgring we have the opportunity to use the softer tyre that we were using prior to Moscow and are able to take another step forward.”

Visordown has teamed up with Ducati to find 12 grid girls for the Silverstone British Superbikes round...
DO YOU want to experience life as a grid girl?
We've teamed up with Ducati to offer 12 girls a VIP pass to be a grid girl for the 848 Challenge, British Superbikes at Silverstone on the 30th of September.
You'll have lunch in the Ducati hospitality suite where you'll meet the riders, meet former World Superbike Champion Neil Hodgson and, with your VIP pass, see some of the best motorcycle racing anywhere in the world (that's in between smiling at the hundreds of cameras pointing at you through out the day). WSBK News. Carlos Checa decides against pushing for victory at Silverstone as he labels the first race conditions as 'dangerous'.
Carlos Checa says he can be satisfied with a fifth and sixth place finish considering the circumstances after rain spoiled his hopes of victory at Silverstone.
The Spaniard was one of the favourites for the victory around the circuit he won twice at in 2011, but while he was certainly looking in command in the dry as he opened up a three second lead at the half-way point of the opening race, he slipped back when the rain arrived.
Opting to allow the top four to jostle for position ahead of him, Checa was happy enough to reach the finish line given the 'dangerous' conditions.
“The conditions, especially in race one, were dangerous; racing in the wet with slick tyres is obviously no fun for anyway, although it probably makes for exciting races for the spectators,” he said.

For the first quarter of the British Grand Prix, there was a Ducati racing at the front in a dry race, something we’ve not seen for some time. Almost as soon as Nicky Hayden crossed the line with 15 of 20 laps to go, his GP12 changed from something that could match the pace of the leaders into something else entirely.
Hayden lost fourth place to Lorenzo, then fifth to Dovizioso, both times going wide as his bike suddenly wouldn’t turn like it had been doing for the previous four laps. Hayden said in his post-race media scrum that the bike had been great until it destroyed the soft rear tire.
Earlier, when I’d walked onto pit lane and headed for the grid, we felt sprinkles in the air and wondered if the volatile weather was about to change from cool-but-dry to wet-and-even-colder, as it had several times over the weekend....More here

The iconic track has fallen into the hands of the Qatari Investment Authority...
An announcement is expected later this month which will signal the sale of Silverstone, home to the British rounds of MotoGP and F1, into foreign ownership. The Qatar Investment Authority is paying £200m for a 100-year lease for the iconic Northamptonshire circuit.
The deal, which has been the subject of intense negotiation between circuit owners, the British Racing Drivers Club and the Qataris for several months, will write off debts of more then £20m and provide finance for ambitious development plans.
No official announcement has yet been made but BRDC President and former racing driver Derek Warwick said: "This will bring the circuit to a standard where we have the best facilities not just in Europe, but in the world. We already have the history and one of the greatest circuits and what we are planning will complete the package." ...more
