The wheels are in motion and the music is cued up for MidAmerica Auctions’ 22nd Annual Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction and Races on Jan. 10-12, 2013, at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nev.
We have attended this series of auctions (in the past there have been as many as three going on during the three day event) and have found it to be an event above and beyond the auction itself. Lots of great bikes to see (and buy) and plenty of other gearheads to meet up with, it's a pop-up museum of sorts. Add to the mix that it's scheduled during the big yearly electronics industry convention CES so the world's media is on hand, Vegas is hopping and the people watching is superb....

The original is located 43 miles south of Cologne, Germany, and surrounds the village of Nurburg. The oldest section of the track was built in the 1920’s around a medieval castle in the Eifel Mountains. Nicknamed “the Green Hell” by Jackie Stewart, it’s considered one of the most demanding racing circuits in the world and is used today as a proving ground for auto manufacturers....more

For those unfamilier with the January Vegas Auction scene, it's the largest of the year with every bike brand (and then some) represented, including Ducati. This year three different auction houses, Mid America, and Auctions America by RM and Bonhams, will be vying for business, add this seminar and it's the perfect winter motorcycle entertainment break.
From Auctions America: "A group of the world’s leading experts in collectible motorcycles, including two members of the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) Hall of Fame, will share their wisdom at an exclusive market seminar presented by Auctions America by RM its debut Las Vegas Premier Motorcycle event, Jan. 12–14, 2012.
Hosted by well-known motorcycle guru and SPEED commentator Dave Despain, the one-hour seminar will be held in the main auction arena at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 9 a.m. PDT. A continuing part of Auctions America’s educational series, the panel discussion will focus on the passion that drives the motorcycle hobby, including the continuing popularity of motorcycles as collectibles, as well as explore market trends and predictions for the 2012 auction season.
