MotoGP series organizer Dorna appears to be pursuing a new strategy in its agreements with TV broadcasters. Where previously, Dorna had been fixed on securing deals with free-to-air broadcasters, recent deals have seen them agree terms with pay-per-view channels, in pursuit of higher revenues.
Spain is the latest market to see this development. The existing deal with Telecinco has been blown open, with Spanish telecommunications giant Telefonica taking over some of the broadcasting from Telecinco. Telecinco will show 9 races live, and a further 10 on a delayed schedule.

RIDING a Ducati into the press conference venue, Charley Boorman later sheepishly confessed to those in attendance that while waiting outside for his grand entrance wearing a jacket, he started sweating profusely. He forgot how warm Malaysia can be.
This travel adventurer, writer and sometimes-actor was in Kuala Lumpur to promote his six-part series called Freedom Riders Asia which celebrates the people and their motorcycles across Asia.
Boorman loves motorbikes and it’s that love and his passion for travel that compelled him to do this series....
We don't know when (or if) this series will air in the USA but we will admit a long time fascination for the way 2 wheeled vechicles are used in Asian Countries and can easily see the potential of this sort of lifestyle show. We hope Fox brings it to the USA

With the World Superbike season-opener now less than two weeks away, bad news looms for motorcycle race fans in the United States, as the SPEED Channel (now a part of FOX Sports), does not have a television contract to air WSBK and MotoGP for their 2013 seasons.
An issue that has been hanging in limbo since the start of the year, Superbike Planet yesterday suggested that American motorcycle racing fans could be without the World Superbike Championship on their televisions sets this year (we have heard similar murmurings regarding AMA Pro Racing as well).

Ductalk editors note: Ducati tie-in - Orange County Choppers became and not long after, unbecame an official Ducati dealer a couple of years back, during the course of the show
After 10 years and 233 episodes on the air, American Chopper is finally getting dragged out behind the shed, and put out of its misery on December 11th, 2012. It has been a long road with the Teutul family, as for the past decade we have watched the Oedipal struggle between Paul Jr. and Paul Sr., with man-child Mikey trapped in the middle, serving as the only adult in the group.
Things started out well enough, with the folks at Orange County Choppers making some interesting customs, and exposing a mainstream TV audience to the world of motorcycles…albeit in the same lowest-common denominator way that is typically found on WWF’s Monday Night RAW.

Dorna has placed three MotoGP events in the United States in 2013, but there's a very real chance American fans might have a tough time seeing those races unless they're in the grandstands at Laguna Seca, Indianapolis and Austin.
American media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, reported this week that FOX is considering a conversion of SPEED, its motorsports cable network in the United States, into an all-sports channel to challenge ESPN and NBC Sports Network. FOX recently renewed its broadcasting rights deal with Major League Baseball, which gives FOX the right to show games on its network channel and another nationally distributed FOX channel.
